SSANZ was founded in January 2019, by a group of enthusiastic people who have created a direction for their ‘scent’ activities. A national committee was formed, rules have been established, and we became an incorporated society.

 

Jan Voss was our first president, she is a driven person, full of ideas and a passion for dogs and enriching their lives with scent sports. With Jan’s leadership, in our first year, we became incorporated, started accepting memberships, and developed and started hosting ‘nosework’ trials.

 

Our current president is Rob Peterson, he has been our President for 4 years now and leads a dedicated committee that is focused on the long term development of SSANZ.

We have had an amazing response from keen, kiwi dog owners and organisations wanting to come on board and grow scent sports in NZ. 

We currently have 17 registered organisations within the North Island and 1 registered organisatiuon in the South Island.

Nosework and Buried Hide Trials are held regularly in various locations, with levels currently been offered from Novice to Advanced.

Our individual membership has grown over the last 5 years.
